I’m dying to know how to fix cars. From Vogue, 1994.

I also wish that I were automotively inclined also, yes I made up the word ‘automotively.’

Exactly how I feel today, especially because my head hurts so much that I wish it would disappear.

Masturbation is usually one of those things that a lot of people do but no one really talks about—at least not many women.Men—-we’ve all seen American pie and it’s almost widely accepted that you guys get that going at a seemingly young age. Regardless it’s natural and something that almost…

The Week of 3/4/12: Acquired Knowledge

Between Classes, The Nobel Peace Prize Forum, the Student Ad Summit & my man-friend turning 30 I have been soaking up nuggets of knowledge all week with the absorbency of my favorite biodegradable sponge brand (Twist).

The Nobel Peace Prize Forum is a conference centered around the mission of peace, this year marks the 24th Annual occurrence of this even and also it’s first official year  that the conference has a permanent residency in the Twin Cities. We Minnesotans are so lucky to have the opportunity to attend this motivational conference right in our own great metropolitan area.

I attended the Arts and Music Day, heard a great Keynote speech by Adam Hoschild and then attended his break out session, Writing As a Tool for Peace. I heard many motivating stories and saw a diverse multitude of faces all seeking the path to peace and peace-teaching.

The second break-out I attended was a thorough explanation of the Iraq Body Count project. It was very motivating for me to see this website dedicated to bring real numbers, facts and accounts of the civilians being effected by this tragic war. Regardless of how much I may hate the lack of design on the site I know it’s mission has nothing to do with beauty and everything to do with relaying the deaths of Iraqi civilians, that our (American) military is not even keeping track of. It is moving to know that a project like this is being carried out by people as far physically removed from the conflict as Europe and the States.

I never could have imagined that discussions of peace could be so depressing and war filled but being surrounded by so many passionate believers in peace rejuvenated by idealistic attitude.

Student Advertising Summit was a smashing success again this year, I am a bit sad because I don’t plan on attending next year. I will have been graduated for a couple months prior and hopefully I will be employed but it will still be a bit sad.

A Few Key Take Away Points:

Informational Interviews Aren’t About the Student, They are for Finding Out About the Interviewee & the Path that led Them to Employment

If Asked Your Weakness During an Interview The Best Answer is “I would like to have more professional training and development in, something.”

Community Management is a real possibility for my future.

Brand Planning & Account Planning are the two titles with in the realm of planning that fit my skills the best.

It is important to make your objective statement more about Who You Are.

Mimosas Are Good, Whiskey Shots Are Not.

Glitter shoes should not be worn in the snow.

& lastly I learned,

Not getting adequate amounts of sleep will eventually catch up with you.

Why I Hated the Chrysler Ad

I hated it because I thought it was pretentious, gloomy and trying so hard to make themselves the hero in a context that failed miserably.

Apparently most people loved that ad (probably due to the celebrity endorsement which worked on some level) but I will not reevaluate this opinion. If you want to check out what I am blabbering about check out this good article.

Obsessed with the print in the top two pictures.
